The confirmation following an unexpected ordeal

With no intentions of documenting this to blame my precious little one as he or she is God's gift to me....But this is a huge sacrifice!!! Why is it a huge sacrifice...Please read to follow the story of the journey of my little one with mummy...(Still stun that I am a mum to be)

16th of April 2009

This is after the day I did the test using the home pregnancy kit. Still in disbelief, I had an appointment with my Urologist to check on the condition of my UTI and in convenience, I asked her to help me confirm my pregnancy. The test results came back positive and I was cleared of my UTI. However, the Urologist wanted to be sure that I was cleared from the infection so she administered Roxifen (antibiotic) thru a syringe and I set there talking to my aunts in USA and smsing my friends abt the news.

When phone calls came back, I was like feeling itch in the throat and I started to wheeze...My Urologist came out of her room and when I told her, the look on her face!! YOU ARE HAVING AN ALLERGIC REACTION!!! She made a phone call to A&E and asked me if I could walk downstairs and I said definitely. I even teased her by saying that " I thought she said I was a straight forward case....and she replied, you actually are but you choose not to be. " I laughed.

In any case, I ended up getting all the attention in A&E. I started wheezing real bad and they did a neubeuliser on me. And suddenly, I was trembling and my toes started to turn purple. The doctor then later said that I was going into an anaphylactic shock! She said I had to be warded...Electric currents went through my body and I was moving up and down the hospital bed. There were like 5 people attending to me.

I recovered after 20 mins. The doctor ordered an ECG for me and tested that my heartbeat was fine just a little fast. The later admitted me to a 2 bedder and I stayed there for a night tortured with three more injections administered. Thank God the food was alright.

I was discharged the following day though the respiratory doctor wanted me to stay on. They tested my Potassium level to be low but released me on borderline. KC came to pick me up and later went back to work. I slept throughout the afternoon resting.

Went to see my gynae in hopes that I would get to see the little one. However my gynae said it was too small. So I ended up having to come back two weeks later. She gave me two months of folic acid pills and I waited for my next appointment which will be 4th of May. My MIL and KC came along with me but only KC got to see the vagina scan.

Met mum for lunch and later my gfs. I think I ate so much this day that I couldn't stand up straight when I came home at night. I was slouching. And I came to a conclusion that I cannot overeat if not I will suffer.

I am back at work doing well. Smiling and everything. I ate two vegetables and a Nu dan for lunch. That was sufficient enough I bet...Can't wait for dinner though. I passed thru the tired phase today. What a day!!

Can't wait for you to surface little one....Keeping you in prayers and I thank God for all the prayers showered upon me this last Sunday. It will be a truly amazing journey.
